Believe it or not, cascading layers, the novelty of the cascading and fifth-level CSS inheritance module, seemingly just appearing in drafts, have been a no-frills standard, a candidate for recommendation for over two weeks now! And the W3C is vigorously encouraging their adoption. And browsers are about to follow suit: Firefox 97 with their default support is scheduled for February 8, soon to be followed by Chrome 99 (and everything else based on its engine). Even Safari has already been able to “feel” them (that browser has been very excited about CSS innovations lately). So there’s a good chance that by the end of the year, support for cascading layers will be almost ubiquitous!
